Multimode and single-mode fiber adapters make the

WireXpert into a full-featured optical fiber certifier. With

this adapter, WireXpert tests and documents both fibers

of a duplex cable simultaneously. The device automa-

tically tests length and polarity against selected stan-

dards, and measures attenuation at wavelengths of 850

nm and 1300 nm for multimode, and 1310 nm and 1550

nm for single-mode. The measurements are compared

with the tolerances of the selected standard and a pass

or fail result displayed. The PC reporting software Repor-

tXpert is included to document the capabilities of the

cabling in professional test reports.
